Kyle Maccia of Wall, NJ:
Kyle's Dream was to meet Taylor Swift.
Kyle Maccia, an 18-year-old township youth, this week (July 18, 2011) received the wish of a lifetime when he met singer Taylor Swift while the pop star was in Newark for a July 20th concert at the Prudential Center.
Maccia, who has multiple sclerosis, was granted the wish through the Jersey Shore chapter of the Dream Factory, a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to chronically and critically ill children from Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex counties, according to Luanne Wood, selection coordinator at the Jersey Shore chapter.
The local chapter, based in Brick, in June arranged for Maccia to fly out to Las Vegas to see Swift perform at the Country Music Awards, but the arrangement to meet Swift could not be made, Wood said.
The Dream Factory of the Jersey Shore, which has granted seven wishes to children since its inception a year ago, persisted and a meeting was arranged for July 20, Wood said.
